Michael joined Meeting Street Schools in 2018 as the Director of Student Support. In this role, he is lucky to work with the whole network of teachers and leaders in developing systems to support all of Meeting Street’s students.
Prior to moving to Charleston, Michael lived in Washington DC for ten years. He began his work there at Teach For America as a High School special education teacher. He then transitioned to KIPP DC, where he worked for the last seven years – first as a teacher, and most recently as the Director of Student Support. During this time, Michael helped KIPP DC transition into becoming its own LEA for special education purposes.
Michael received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), and his Master of Education in Special Education from George Mason University.
When he is not working, Michael enjoys weeknight grilling, exploring downtown Charleston, and turning his family – Lauren, Zara, and Kenslea – into outdoors lovers.
