Abigail “Abby” Bruce, an 11th grader at James Island Charter High School, was just announced as the “Rookie Caddie of the Year”. This honor was presented at the inaugural Charleston Muni BBQ to celebrate the end of the summer season. Abby had completed an impressive 26 full “loops” since this June. Not to be outdone, veteran caddie Kimberly Hernandez Santiago, Early College High School, has completed 39 full loops and is the first ever “Caddie of the Year” for South Carolina. Abby graduated from Meeting Street Academy-Charleston in 2018 and Kimberly graduated from Meeting Street- Brentwood in 2022. They are both active alumnae.

“I’m happy to be recognized as rookie of the year because it shows that all my hard work was valued. While I’ve already been paid per loop and am being immediately rewarded and encouraged to do more, the title goes to show how much those running my branch of the program care about their caddies.” – Abby Bruce

“The program has really taught me how to work hard and never give up. I am excited about all of the opportunities that I am making for myself and my future.” – Kimberly Hernandez Santiago
