Mental health awareness month is a time to understand how mental health impacts families and to promote strong mental health in our scholars. At Meeting Street Academy Spartanburg, we are using morning meeting activities to address mental health to start conversations and find ways for students to get help if needed. These activities are everything from practicing mindfulness to psychoeducation to practicing gratitude. We want to teach students skills to use that will become incorporated into their daily lives that will promote strong mental health.
Another one of our goals is to end the stigma associated with mental health. Our team put together a list of local resources that families can refer to if they have questions about mental health or want to explore therapy. Not only did we include therapy clinics, but we also included activities in the community such as youth theater and summer camps, because community building is such an important part of mental health. We want to change the narrative around mental health so that our families can feel comfortable speaking up about mental health issues and so that we can have a culture of love and support.
Join a community of incredible, passionate people working to change the lives of our students. Our compensation and benefits are a cut above the rest: the most competitive total compensation in the region.
Start Your Career!“MSA is a family. Once you’re in, you’re in. They said they would follow our kids from K-3 to college and they actually lived up to what they said they would do. Not only did MSA challenge my daughter academically but it also exposed her to new things that she probably wouldn’t have been exposed to at our previous neighborhood school. Our journey at MSA was exciting and rewarding. They actually walk the walk.”
“We come into work everyday truly believing that our students are capable of achieving anything that is put in front of them. Here at MSS, students are provided the opportunity to achieve success through the facilitation of well-educated teachers, resources, and a responsive classroom school environment.”
