Meeting Street Elementary – Burns Principal Chad Weiden plans to step down at the end of this school year to pursue another opportunity, and Academic Dean Nik’Toshia Giles has been promoted as his replacement.
Giles, a founding member of the Burns team, has a deep understanding of and connection to the school’s mission and families. She’s served as both a pre-K and kindergarten teacher, pre-K director, grade level chair and most recently, academic dean for pre-K and first grade.
She’s known for her high expectations and strong belief in students’ potential.
“One of my favorite quotes is ‘resilience in the face of adversity,’” she said. “Every student faces challenges, but those should never deter their work ethic or determination. I want every child to be prepared for the future of their choice, whether that means attending a top college or pursuing a career they’re passionate about.”
Josh Bell, board member for Meeting Street Schools, said Weiden has played an instrumental role in shaping Burns, and his commitment to students has made a lasting impact.
“We are incredibly grateful for Chad’s leadership, heart and vision, and his contributions always will be a part of the school’s story.” Bell said. “We look forward to welcoming Nik to this new role and bringing her own bold, student-centered vision to life.”
