Read365 Volunteer Program
Through Read365, we will increase the literacy skills of fourth and fifth grade students by providing more opportunities for students to read interactively and analyze literature with adult volunteers.
What To Expect
You will participate in an exciting, professional volunteer orientation with Read365 team members to understand the importance of literacy and become equipped with the latest tools to maximize your effectiveness.
You will be paired with either one or two students with whom you will share in the following activities during your hour-long session each week:
- Reading fun, grade-level appropriate chapter books such as “Because of Winn Dixie” by Kate DiCamillo, “Wonder” by RJ Palacio and “Stargirl” by Jerry Spinelli.
- Engaging your student(s) in intellectually stimulating discussion about the books.
- Encouraging your student(s) to write in the Read365 journal to reinforce concepts learned during reading.
You will enjoy the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students that will have positive lifelong academic, social and emotional impacts.
