While many high-achieving college graduates work for years before stepping into leadership roles, Teaching Fellows at Meeting Street Schools are leading classrooms on Day 1.
Teaching Fellows are classroom CEOs, entrusted with meaningful responsibility, real decision-making power and the opportunity to lead with purpose.
The Meeting Street Schools’ Teaching Fellows program is designed for high-achieving, ambitious graduates of any major. Only a handful of the top students from universities nationwide are accepted for this high-stakes, impactful program.
The Fellowship provides leadership training through hands-on experience. Fellows learn key lessons in:
1. Ownership and accountability
Just like leaders, Teaching Fellows own outcomes and drive results. Fellows use data to diagnose students’ needs, make informed decisions and improve students’ achievement.
2. Decision-making under pressure
Like CEOs, Teaching Fellows must assess situations quickly and make thoughtful decisions in real time. Whether it’s adjusting instruction or addressing behavior, daily opportunities arise to sharpen judgment and build confidence.
3. Managing stakeholders
On an average day, teachers manage the needs and competing priorities among students, families, co-teachers, school leaders and support staff. These classroom CEOs must strike the right balance to manage varying perspectives and reach their goals.
4. Communication and presence
From leading a room to explaining complex ideas clearly, teachers develop a strong leadership presence. They learn to read the room, inspire action and communicate with clarity, skills that translate seamlessly to the board meeting or courtroom.
The difference is clear. The Teaching Fellows program doesn’t ask graduates to wait for leadership experience; it empowers them to lead immediately.
